Tutorial - Post-It Note Holder

Tutorial Wednesday at Bugaboo's Catch the Bug Challenge blog and it is my turn to give one, so here goes.    I was given this lovely post it note holder from a dear friend who for no reason, just because she wanted to, gave it to me. I treasure it  and  I thought what a nice thing to give someone a just because gift so I decided to make one . I thought it would not be fair to copy her design (which I love) and went  with a  similar version of my own.  The main thing to remember is the insert must be THIN! The following are my specks.
Inspiration by  J. Batty

                           Post-It- Note Holder
   Supplies/Tools
  • photo frame holder

      2.  Cut a 2 3/4' x 2 3/4 frame for the image from
            cardstock:
I used a Spellbinders die cut  called
'Fleur de Lis Square' ,or use any die
of your choice with similar dimensions

    3. Inner image   2" x 2"
I used Beautiful Blocks  -   Life   a Bugaboo image
You can use digital or rubber/clear stamps
  •  colouring  -  Prismacolor markers Spring Green, Leaf green and Chartreuse

   4.  adhere:  designer paper to the 6" x 4" cardstock,
image to the die cut border, all to the designer  paper

    5. Insert into the frame holder

Gift Box

Challenge # 178  at Crafty Cardmakers - Anything but a Card. Please stop by to see all the fabulous creations  by my talented teamies and join in the fun with your own creations! My choice was  the following :

Gift Box and Money/Card Holder

Do you need something small to hold a gift certificate or money?,   I made this for a granddaughter to hold her gift , which is money, but wanted something special to hold it in.  Something to make the money more personal, and let her know some thought went into the gift. I love how it turned out! You can throw some treats into the box for an added touch. Every item I used was from my stash . I used Spellbinders  circle and  scalloped dies and  I think the paper was Stampin' Up.

Gift Tags

Today is Monday ' Anything But a Card' day at Bugaboo's Catch the Bug Challenge Blog and with  Christmas   drawing near,  I decided to create a  set of gift tags. They are somewhat larger than your ordinary gift tag and would work well hanging from a bag or adhered to a larger package.  I decided to  work with scraps of left over cardstock so  it was just a matter of deciding the colour themes and going for it. I store  left over paper/cardstock  from my different projects in see through bags , one for each colour group, so it was a matter of finding the right size paper to fit the circle dies.    Turned out  harder than I thought  and had a bit of a mismatch here matching the ribbon  to the colours I used,  but hey,  they  will head to the garbage after the opening anyway. It was fun and wished I had made more, but I am off to a different project  and this will have to do.

Bugaboo - Scarlette - Wine

Oldie but a Goodie day at Bugaboo's Catch the Bug Challenge site. Always so much fun to find one of the older stamps and use it .  I choose this fun image called Frame it-Scarlette-Wine. She makes me smile just looking at her.  I coloured her with Prismacolor Markers, added a heart and a thin border, some brown half pearls and she was done. Fast and easy, I must try more of these Frame It type images.

Thanksgiving Gable Boxes

Today is Monday and that means it is Anything But a Card Day at the Catch the Bug blog. To see some wonderful projects from the DT go there and enjoy.

These are the Gable Boxes I made for a grand niece and nephew for Thanksgiving , I filled each with a little treat and a very  tiny toy.    The cardstock is Stampin' Up's, the image is Bugaboo's Autumn Critter Stack 02 and I coloured them with Prismacolor markers. The decor on top was a dollar store purchase. Instructions on how to make Gable boxes are everywhere on the Internet e.g.:  Splitcoaststampers and are an easy and fun little gift container for any occasion.

The embossed background was created using Stampin' UP's 'Lucky Stars' embossing folder. Ribbon and the burlap  strip from stash.

Bugaboo Christmas Troll- Warm Winter Wishes

                                                   New Releases!
New Release day  for Bugaboo Stamps  and here is a sassy little troll with a candy cane!  She can be found under the title 'BUGXMASTROLL or "Christmas Troll" on  their web  site.

For all the lovely DT projects using this wonderful stamp go to the Catch the Bug site .

I printed her twice, coloured her face/hair twice so I could layer one over the other for a dimensional look. I also made the right bottom sentiment and left top  corner set  dimensional by using foam mounts to adhere them. The sentiment (Warm Winter Wishes) came from a Bugaboo Christmas set  I won last July and is not sold separately.
Other: coloured with copics and some Prisma Markers,  Spellbinders  'Gold Corner Set One' for top left corner decoration ,Stampin' Up's Big Shot Sizzix embossing folder for background.

Crafty Cardmakers - Embossing

Heat embossed front of card
Dry Embossed background

Crafty Cardmakers Challenge #177 - Embossing Dry or Heat
New challenge and such a fun one, you get to use an old technique and one of my favourites - embossing. I stamped my background with an old Stampin' Up background rubber stamp and heat embossed it. Then using designer paper I added a die cut circle upon which I placed a Michael's Burlap flower. I added some twine, a tag and was done. Pretty easy and I quite like it. The tag was from a paper stack and I added the ribbon and the flower for some well needed punch.
Note: I did   dry emboss the first layer of the card upon which I placed the heat embossed front layer as it looked too plain.

Catch the Bug - Theme Challenge-Going in Circles

Saturday's 'Catch the Bug' challenge is  'Theme -  'going in circles'. I choose for my card the wonderful Bugaboo image 'Snowman 001' which comes in  coloured and uncoloured versions. I printed out both versions, used the coloured one, added an earmuff from the non coloured version  (which I coloured myself) and added the extras. Done deal..

I did the usual routine, design, put together the card, take pictures, edit and post to the blog in draft . To my dismay I then noticed the sentiment I had added wasn't on the card or in the picture.  Poor craftsmanship I know. I found it on the floor , added it to the card  and took some more photo's . So now I have two versions in digital land. Will go with the one with the sentiment  , though I like both versions. Haha

Bugaboo New Release - Elf

It is Tuesday and that means 'New Release' day at Bugaboo's  'Catch the Bug challenge blog'. The release this week is this adorable  elf (Bugelf003). I coloured him with PrismaColor  Markers and his face with Copics. I printed him out twice and made the large front ornament and his elf shoes dimensional. I added some 'Stickles' to the hat trim for some sparkle.  He is just too cute! The Merry Christmas is an Elizabeth Craft Designs die called '745- Merry Christmas'. and the bottom banners are from a Stampin Up punch. The green background is embossed with Cuttlebug's 'Swiss Dots'.  Go here to see all the fabulous  DT versions of  BUGELF003 - Elf003 projects.

Bugaboo ATG - Snowman and Birds

Bugaboo's 'Catch the Bug'  Anything Goes  November Challenge.
The first Saturday of the month is ATG and I choose the stamp 'Snowman and  Birds'. Isn't it delightful!  I made the snowman's hat, scarf and the wee bird (on top the hat) dimensional. I coloured the image with Prismacolor markers and used Stampin' Up's Banners Framelits Dies for the image frames  (the red, black and white backing). This was then adhered to a 'tag' card base. I added a bow and  black ribbon to finish it off. The sentiment is Stampin' Up's with a punched out oval frame.

I am having way too much fun with these Bugaboo images!
